Formed and Chartered in 1987, the Ottawa Lions Club is a community service organization with a primary focus on sight preservation
and assistance to the sight and hearing impaired. We are part of a worldwide association which was formed in 1917 and enlisted
by Helen Keller in 1925 at Cedar Point in Ohio to become her "Knights of the Blind". The International Association
of Lions Clubs now numbers 1.3 Million people in 43,000 local clubs around the world.

What does the Ottawa Lions Club do?
We assist local people who do not have the financial means to get needed eyeglasses.
We sponsor a character named Eddie Eyeglasses who speaks to second graders in our schools on the importance of wearing
their eyeglasses and showing respect for others.
We grant a limited number of scholarships to graduating Ottawa-Glandorf High School Seniors. This year it will be at
$250 each.
We host our club's annual Kite Derby to provide a time for families to come together and have fun in a unique manner.
We have adopted a two mile section of US 224 east of Ottawa and a two mile section of Ohio 694 west of Glandorf to keep
clean as part of the Ohio Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway Program.
We collect used eyeglasses for distribution by the VOSH (Volunteer Optimetric Services to Humanity). One of the collection
boxes is at the offices of Drs. Dible and Bauer. Other boxes are at Ottawa Elementary School and Saints Peter and Paul School.
An additional box has been placed at Kohl's Market, the local grocery store. Both funeral homes also help us collect glasses.
Our thanks go out to these businesses for their help in this important work.

"We Serve"
